A modern, multi-platform Hotline tracker.

The goal of Magnetron is to provide flexibility for those who wish to provide trackers for Hotline servers. Magnetron can run on any platform that Golang supports. Examples include Windows, Linux (x86 & arm), Raspberry Pi, and MacOs (x86 and arm).

Without Hotline trackers, it is very difficult to locate Hotline servers. The original tracker was created to allow those with dynamic IPs to easily advertise their local Hotline server. Magnetron aims to keep this aspect of the community alive by helping "future proof" a critical, and often overlooked aspect of the Hotline community.

Source code

The major feature in this release is the addition of a REST API for getting registered server information. The REST API supports TLS and authentication through a bearer token. As the same with the rest of the application, it is controlled through a set of configuration files. The REST API is disabled by default.

Additional changes include library upgrades to address security issues as well as bump up to Go 1.25.5.

This feature release of magnetron includes the following new features:

Tracker federation: Tracker can now federate servers from other trackers. Tracker can be configured to pull from multiple other trackers and list servers. This is done via the configuration file.

Magnetron has been tested with the following server implementations:

Mobius Hotline Server 1.2.3

... And it has been tested with the following clients:

Hotline Client 1.2.3, 1.8.4, 1.8.5

Quick Start:

1. First generate a default configuration: ./magnetron config init ./config.yml This will create a default config file in your current directory.
2. Update the config, you might need to set the interface/host you're serving on.
3. Start the server: ./magnetron serve ./config.yml

Password Configuration:

1. Generate a default password configuration: ./magnetron password init ./passwords.yml This will create a default password config file in your current directory.
2. Update your existing config and add the following options: EnablePasswords: true and PasswordFile: "./passwords.yml"
3. Edit the password config entries. The Name and Description fields can be whatever you like, they're there for convenience. The Password field must contain the hashed password you wish to use.
4. Hash a given password by running ./magnetron password encrypt then follow the on-screen prompts.
5. Set the resulting value in the Password field
6. Multiple entries are allowed
7. You can test the password by running ./magnetron password check then follow the on-screen commands

This initial release of magnetron includes the following features:

• Server registration: Servers can register by adding the tracker IP in their tracker list
• Expiring inactive servers: If a server has not submitted an update in a period of time, it will be removed
• Static servers: Static servers can be set by the tracker owner and are always displayed first, they cannot be expired
• Hotline client support: Hotline clients can connect and get tracker results
